H1N1 Impacts Local Hospitals

The H1N1 virus is affecting how local hospitals deal with their patients. Emergency rooms are much busier than normal as worried parents brung their children in to be checked for H1 N1, and to receive vaccinations

Schools Affected by H1N1

Local schools are also being impacted by the flu. The number of schools with more than 10% of students staying at home sick has almost doubled.

Vaccine Clinic Lineups

The first Newmarket clinic for the H1N1 vaccine opened today at noon – but more than a thousand people were lined up at the doors before it opened – some for several hours. 

Coyote Attack

A promising young singer-songwriter was killed by two coyotes who attacked her as she walked along a trail in Cape Breton. 19 year old Taylor Mitchell was launching her debut album with a cross country tour. Animal experts say lethal coyote attacks are extraordinarily rare.
