Deadly Crashes

Snow and ice on Highway 400 near Honey Harbour caused a multi-vehicle crash this morning that killed a man. Then a tractor-trailer southbound on the 400 near Highway 89 crossed all six lanes of the highway before coming to rest on an embankment. Incredibly, the out-of-control rig did not hit another vehicle. There was also a fatal accident near Minett in Muskoka, where a truck and SUV collided, killing the driver of the SUV.
OPP Officers Save Student's Life
- A 13 year old student at a Penetanguishene school collapsed yesterday on the sports field. Two OPP officers are being hailed heroes for saving his life, but they were part of a team effort that began when school staff performed CPR to revive the teen.
Drivers Protest
- Truck driving instructors and their students took their protest to Queen's Park - demanding the province put an end to the strike by Drive Test workers. They walked off the job ten weeks ago.
Cancer Survivor to Carry Olympic Torch

A Newmarket woman who is battling cancer has been selected to carry the Olympic torch when it makes its way through our region. 36 year old Clare Kowaltschuk says she's an Olympic fanatic, and carrying the torch is a lifelong dream.
