Crib Recall

More than two million drop-side cribs by Stork Craft Manufacturing of BC have been voluntarily recalled in Canada and the U-S. Parents are urged to stop using the cribs immediatetly, and contact the company for a free kit to fix the problem. The company says the problem is only found in cribs that have been incorrectly assembled.

Child Poverty Report

Child poverty advocates say one in every nine children in Ontario currently lives in poverty. The group called Ontario Campaign 2000 is calling for an immediate $100 increase to social assistance payments.

Snow Biz

Local businesses in Simcoe County and Muskoka that depend on “white gold” are wondering when it will arrive.  At least one local ski resort is already pushing back its planned opening by a few days. Horseshoe Resort was planning to open this weekend, but is now looking at the middle of next week. Meanwhile a number of local golf courses are still open.

Downtown Deer

Traffic was blocked off and buildings were evacuated after a deer decided to take a stroll in downtown Toronto.  Eventually police had to use a Taser to get control of the animal. She is now doing well under observation at the Medtro Toronto Zoo.
