Barrie Man Charged

Thirteen people say they were bilked out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, in a “Ponzi” scheme.  A man is facing 55 fraud related charges. Police say he offered investments in ATM's that he didn't own. James WIlliam Martin will appear in court early next month.

Rogers Layoffs

Rogers has announced its laying off 900 employees across Canada. The company says it's a cost-sutting measure to helop it saty competitive. Rogers also announced a $163,000,000 purchase of shares in cable company Cogeco, giving it a one-third equity stake in the Quebec-based company.

Cell Phone Ban

It’s been one month since Ontario’s cell phone ban went into place, prohibiting drivers from talking while driving, unless they are using a hands free device. Police say they'll soon stop issuing warnings,  and handing out tickets instead.

Security Breach

The U-S Secret Service says it's reviewing its security procedures after two socialites crashed Tuesday night's state dinner at the White House. Local security expert Sunil Ram says breaching security can be as easy as looking like you belong, and appearing totally confident and at ease.
