Keeping Safe on the Trails

The deaths of three snowmobilers in three days is on the minds of sledders and the people who try to keep the trails safe.  Police were out on patrols Sunday, making sure people check their speed and be mindful of other snowmobilers on the trails.  A 57 year old man died when his sled hit a tree in Oro-Medonte Saturday, a 54 year old man was killed north of Honey Harbour Friday, and a 17 year old teen died when his sled hit a tree Thursday night in Springwater Township.

Record Plunge

It was a record setting gathering at Sunday's polar plunge at Barrie Winterfest.  225 people braved the bone chilling temperature and icy cold water to take a dip in Lake Simcoe.  It was the highlight of Winterfest, which wrapped up Sunday afternoon.

CTV Newsroom Destroyed

Investigators are trying to determine what sparked a multi-million dollar fire that gutted the CTV Ottawa newsroom on Sunday.  The blaze broke out around 4:30am on Sunday morning.  No one was injured, but damage is pegged at more than 2.5 million dollars.  The CTV news team will move operations to the /A\ Ottawa building for the time being.
