Leading Cause Of Accidental Death In Seniors

The leading cause of accidental death or serious injury in people over 65 years old is falling.

Even seniors who are strong and health are at a risk of falling due to the normal effects of aging such as poorer balance and waning eyesight.

So the American Academy of Family Physicians is recommending that seniors trade in hard -soled shoes for soft-soled slippers when possible.

Make sure floors are clear of obstructions , including electrical cords.

Handrails on stairways and in bathrooms can give seniors something steady to hold on to if need be.

Keep rooms and hallways well lit.

Remove loose rugs and carpets or securely fasten them to the floor.

Make sure that all floors.. and sidewalks... are smooth and even.
