Ultraviolet Radiation 2006

Fun in the sun this summer will be potentially more dangerous than ever before.

Environment Canada says harmful ultraviolet radiation levels will increase 4 percent this year.

To help protect yourself use sunscreen and sunglasses and cover up when you can.

Avoid the sun between 11am and 2pm when the rays are at their strongest.

Skin cancer rates have increased between 3 and 5 percent in the past few years.

Nonetheless, some sun has its benefits, providing vitamin D for example to help build healthy bones.
