Overtime And Blood Pressure
Working extra hours at the office may raise your profile on the job, but it could also raise your blood pressure.

California researchers have found that working long hours is directly associated with hypertension, even adjusting for risk factors like gender and ethnic background.

People who put in 40 to 51 hours each week area 17 percent more likely to report hypertension compared with people who worked between 11 and 39 hours a week.

Those who work more than 51 hours a week are 30 percent more likely to have hypertension.

Hypertension can put a person at risk for a heart attack or stroke.
