Lethal Holiday Drink Investigation Continues

Police have now released the name of a woman who died after drinking toxic punch at a holiday party in Erieau.

25-year-old Rebecca Demeurichy died after drinking punch that police believe was contaminated with windshield-wiper fluid, which contains methyl alcohol.

Her husband Rob and another person are in serious condition in a London hospital.

Health officials in Chatham are trying to reach all the people who attended two parties in Erieau to warn them about the punch.

As of yesterday, police had notified 18 people who attended parties at two homes in the small community on Lake Erie.

Chatham police Inspector George Flikweert says they think the punch had been stored temporarily in a container that was contaminated with methyl alcohol.
