The Premier and the Minister of Health weighed in today on the decision by St. Joseph's Health Care to hire its own top executive when Cliff Nordal steps down.
Nordal has been managing both St. Joe's and LHSC, but the plan is to hire two Chief Executives to replace him.
Today, Premier Dalton McGuinty and Health Minister Deb Matthews made it clear that they would not get involved in the decision, but said they would not allow patient care to be affected, and that there would be no additional money from the province to fund the extra manager.
