Officials are asking people to stay away from the Thames River because spring runoff has raised the depth and speed of the river flow.
This spring is not particularly bad because there was not a heavy snow buildup to melt into the watershed.
But for the moment the river is running high and fast, and flooding onto the designated flood plains. And the river is swollen right now even though most of the melting snow is being held back by Fanshawe dam.
