”My love for journalism began while I was serving in the British Army's Parachute Regiment. One of the things I had to do was to monitor current events by reading newspapers and watching television news. Having grown up in Niagara Falls, Ontario, I had only seen news through the eyes of Buffalo's newscasts and anchors such as Irv Weinstein. Now I saw the much bigger picture and I became fascinated with the way the stories were told on British newscasts. When I left the army, I came back to Canada, enrolled in Broadcast Journalism at Mohawk College and knew right then I was doing what I loved. I graduated in 1984, winning the award for the top graduating student, and had already worked at CKOC Radio and CHCH-TV on a part-time basis. That experience helped me get a job in Lloydminster, Alberta. From there I went to ATV in Moncton, New Brunswick; the CBC in Sydney, Nova Scotia and Windsor, Ontario; then back to the Maritimes with MITV (later Global Maritimes). I've been a production assistant, reporter, anchor, managing editor and executive producer. Coming to London is very much like coming home for me and very exciting for my wife and three children.”
