Julie Simpson grew up in Cobourg, Ontario listening to CFRB Toronto on the kitchen radio. At a young age, Julie knew she wanted to be in broadcasting and set her sights on that goal. She began her broadcasting career as a disc jockey at her high school and at her hometown radio stations.
Julie got a full time job at a Belleville radio station while attending Loyalist College for Radio Broadcasting. Before graduating, she moved to her second broadcasting job as a news reporter for a radio station in Kingston. She quickly moved to the sister- television station becoming CKWS's first female anchor.
Julie came to The New PL in May of 1985, and began working as a news reporter. Since then Julie has handled numerous assignments including entertainment. Julie travelled to Florida to cover the 20th anniversary of the opening of Disney world, where she interviewed Roy Disney, who has roots in Midwestern Ontario.
After 13 years of bringing you your final newscast of the day, Julie moved from News Now at 11, to co-anchor News Now at Noon with Bob Smith, and then began an exciting new segment called ‘Health and Home’ on A-Channel News at 6.

Extracurricular:

Julie and her husband Cal are the proud parents of two children, J.J., and Meghan. Julie has been a member of the Canadian Cancer Society since 1985 and has proudly been connected to events like the Great Ride 'n Stride to Beat Cancer and the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Breakfast. Her community involvement continues to grow with events like the Bereaved Families Walk to Remember, the M.S. Culinary Classic, and many more.
