Q: What is the history of the Market Media Mall?
A: Built as a shopping mall in 1982, the Market Mall was purchased in 1998.  The redesign of the 46,000 square foot building began one year later by Quadrangle Architects.  In 2000, the Market Media Mall - home of Ottawa and four radio stations - opened its doors.  The open mall concept features a glass vaulted ceiling and windows that allow pedestrians to watch live TV newscasts from the street.  The design incorporated the original escalators and a grill-style restaurant.  The 139 foot broadcast tower was designed by Ottawa architect Barry Padolsky. The tower is crowned by sculptor Bruce Garner's copper weathervane representing a Canada Goose and a figure representing a goddess.
