Grandparents of the Day
Dear A-Channel,

I would like to take a moment to tell you about how caring, thoughtful and selfless my grandparents, “Nana and Poppa”, are.

I feel as though I have a unique bond to my grandparents that not many people share. My nana and poppa have been like a second mom and dad to me, and have shared in all my triumphs and supported me in all my struggles. When I was little my mom went through a divorce with my (then) father, and during this time my nana and poppa did everything possible to help my brother and I understand and accept what was going on. My grandfather even attended father’s day activities at school with us in the hopes of offering some normalcy to our daily lives.

As I grew up their home became my second home and weekend sleepovers were my highlight of the week! Over the years, my bond with nana and poppa has become an even stronger presence in my life.

Last week I was in a small car accident, and the first person to the scene to help me was my poppa, he had heard that I had been in a “fender bender” and had simply shown up because he wanted to offer me some support.

I am thankful every single day for their love and look forward to sharing my future endeavours with them!

 Thanks,

Lindsay Collyer
