The Hunt for a Killer Begins
The focus has changed. The hunt is now on for a killer after Police confirmed yesterday a body found near a west-end N.C.C. trail is that of Jennifer Teague.

The badly decomposed remains were found on Kiln Trail just off Moodie Drive. Dental records had to be used to identify the body at the Center of Forensic Sciences in Toronto.

The 18 year-old had disappeared while walking home from late night shift. Police have not released a cause of death, nor have they said if she was sexually assaulted.

Still the discovery of another young women off a walking trail has some in the city concerned a serial killer could be on the loose. Police say they are looking into whether the homicide is connected to the death of  Ardeth Wood over two years ago. She was discovered near Green's Creek in the city's east end. That case remains unsolved.

Today the community where Jennifer lived is trying to deal with the shocking news. At the high school she attended counselors are on scene to help students cope. Elizabeth Wyn Wood Alternative School is a small tight community where students and staff had been trying their best to keep home alive that Jennifer would be found safe.

Many question are now also being raised over how fast-food restaurants protect employees who are working late night shifts.  Teague was on her way home from work after a late night shift at Wendy's close to her home when she vanished.

Her body was found about 5 kilometres away from the area where she went missing.

Today Wendy's Canada says it is reviewing its policy about employees leaving work alone. Unlike other fast foot companies Wendy's current policy doesn't ensure employees are driven home in taxis or picked up by parents.

For police the search for Jennifer now becomes a search for a killer, and that means reviewing every piece of evidence.

"We will now focus the investigation on trying to find any clues that may lead us to the person or persons responsible for the death of Jennifer Teague," Staff Sgt. Ackland told the media yesterday. "We are investigating a murder."
According to Ackland the body was found just off the parking lot to the trail in dense brush, and it had been their for an uncertain amount of time.

Extensive forensic tests will be conducted on the body and it may take weeks to obtain any results.

According to police the Major Crime and Forensic Teams will concentrate their search along Moodie Drive and some areas leading back to Barrhaven where she was last seen 12 days ago.

An off-duty police officer discovered the body of Jennifer yesterday while he was walking with his family on the NCC pathway around 12:30 pm.

Police immediately closed Moodie Drive between West-Hunt Club and Fallowfield and set up command post to look for evidence.

Teague went missing 12 days ago after she left her late night shift at a fast-food restaurant. The site where her body was found is about five kilometres away from where she was last seen.
