Police call him a ‘person of interest’ in the Jennifer Teague murder case, and now they want the publics help to find him. They have released a composite sketch of the male and are asking anyone with information on him to come forward.
“There are still unanswered questions in this complex investigation and investigators on the Teague investigative team are seeking to identify and speak with this individual as it is hoped that he may be able to assist in providing information that could identify the person or persons responsible for the death of Jennifer Teague,” Said Police Chief Vince Bevan.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have been out in the Barrhaven area or Moodie Drive area between Hunt Club and Fallowfield between midnight and 6 a.m. on September 8th, 2005.
“No information should be considered insignificant and such information may be of assistance to the investigation,” said Bevan
Jennifer’s father, Ed Teague, is hopeful the new development in his daughter’s murder case will provide him with the answers he is so desperately longing for.
“We won’t know what happened that night or why it happened we will never know until the person or persons responsible are brought to justice,” he said.
Police have produced the sketch based on information they gathered from a witness about three weeks ago. He is considered a person of interest because of where he was spotted on the morning Jennifer Teague went missing.
Investigators have shown the drawing to a number of witnesses, including those close to Jennifer. They have also compared it to some of the photos of high risk and sex offenders in their databank.
There are currently 10 officers dedicated to the Teague murder investigation. At this stage police will not release the cause of death, but Chief Bevan says based on information that has been gathered throughout the course of the investigation it is believed her murder was sexually motivated.
Bevan says the drawing has been shown to a number of witnesses, including those close to Jennifer. He adds there are some patrons of Mac’s Milk who have yet to be identified and police would like to speak with them as well.
As an added incentive Wendy’s Canada is offering a $50,000 reward to anyone who provides information to police that leads to an arrest in the murder. Police Chief Vince Bevan is looking to match that amount.
To date police have received over 1,100 tips from the public.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Teague tip-line at 236-1222 extension 5477. Information can also be provided at infojennifer@ottawapolice.ca.
Jennifer Teague went missing on September 8th while walking home after a late night shift. Her body was discovered near an NCC trail off of Moodie drive ten days later.
