For over a decade Bill Welychka has been one of the most recognizable personalities on Canadian television, and now the award winning host and producer is coming to the Nation’s Capital.
A-Channel News announced Thursday Welychka will join the A-Channel News team starting in early September as the station’s new weather specialist. He joins a line-up that already includes veteran news anchor Sandra Blaikie and sports anchor Ken Evraire.
"A-Channel has a great team in Ottawa and The Valley. They are committed to bringing viewers in-depth local news, weather, sports and entertainment," says Bill Welychka. "I can't wait to return home to Ontario and get started on this new chapter in my career."
As A-Channel Weather Specialist, Welychka will spend plenty of time getting to know A-Channel viewers right across Ottawa and The Valley. Every night he will be live-on-location in the Capital bringing viewers their latest weather forecast.
"Bill is a veteran interviewer who brings an exciting and fresh mix of energy and experience to the show," says Peter Angione, A-Channel News Director.
Viewers will recognize Welychka from his more than a decade in front of the camera at MuchMusic and MuchMoreMusic. There he not only interviewed some of the world’s hottest celebrities, but he also hosted a number of highly successful programs including: The MuchMusic Video Awards, “Intimate & Interactive”, and “Live at the Rehearsal Hall.” He is also the producer behind the award winning music series “The Story Of. . .”
Most recently, Welychka was the co-host of Edmonton’s Breakfast Television.
