Shane's Birthday Card Wish (SEE VIDEO)

There's a little boy in this city hoping for a very unique birthday gift this year. He's 7 and all he wants are cards.

Shane Bernier was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2004. He spends his days and nights at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

He says he wants the card because he likes seeing his name on paper. His supporters say the cards are a way to help him experience joy, an important step in recovery.

Shane's birthday is on May 30. If you're interested in sending him a card you can mail it to:

A-Channel is looking for participants for this falls The Great Savings Challenge '07!

A-Channel will follow the financial progress of three Ottawa-area families. These real families will be chosen based on their need and their willingness to reveal and change their financial situation. We will work, in partnership with Brian Doyle & Paul Salewski of Doyle Salewski Inc., Gerry Doyle, Senior Consultant Investors Group Financial Services and Grant King, Ottawa-Carleton Mortgages Inc., with each of the families to design a strategy that will help solve their financial situation. We will follow their progress on A-Channel News At 6 with Sandra Blaikie.
