The sunshine and heat all point toward a fast approaching beach season.
Ottawa city beaches open this weekend, but before you take a dip, be sure the water you're swimming in is safe.
An Ottawa woman broke out in a painful rash after swimming at a private beach.
After heading to the doctor, Mary Cox discovered under the blisters were parasites.
There's no clear reason how they got into the water, but Cox believes they came from a group of ducks near the beach.
Ottawa's supervisor of water testing calls it "swimmers itch" and it all begins when parasite eggs are passed though animal feces into the water.
Although there is no parasite testing, Ottawa beaches have been given the green light for e.coli.
