Canadian fighter jets intercepted a Russian bomber headed into Canadian airspace on the eve of Barack Obama's visit.

Canada's defence minister is acknowledging for the first time that Canadian jets intercepted a Russian bomber that was heading into our airspace the day before American President Barack Obama arrived in the capital.
CF-18s took off from Cold Lake, Alberta, after Norad detected the Cold War-era long-range Tupolev Tu-95 bomber headed towards Canadian airspace.
Peter MacKay says the Russian plane turned around before it entered Canadian airspace, but says the timing of the incident has raised concerns.
The Russian Defence Ministry says it told Canadian authorities about a Russian plane patrol last week, and adds that it never violated Canada's airspace.
