Stittsville Rotary Club members spent a memorable weekend in a shelter box to raise money.

It may not have been the best weekend for an outdoor fundraiser, but a few Rotary Club members bravely faced the elements to support a good cause.
On Friday, the group set up tents during high winds and freezing winds. Rather than give up their 48-hour project, they stuck it out.
The group is raising money to make more shelter boxes available to disaster zones and people in need. The plastic boxes contain a tent and survival supplies - everything people in a disaster zone need except for food and water.
The concept of the boxes was invented by a Rotarian named Tom Henderson. The boxes aren't cheap, They $1,200 per box, including all the contents and shipping costs.
The Stittsville Rotary has already sent four boxes this year, and they're hoping the fundraising stunt this weekend will raise enough money to send another six boxes to those in need.
