Anchor, 'A' News at 11
Tony is entering his 10th year in broadcasting, a career which started at the age of 17. During a high school co-op placement at Star 96 in Pembroke, Tony turned a job as a part-time news reporter into a role as a news anchor. Tony spent a number of years in radio, which included jobs in Pembroke, Belleville and Trenton, before he found his true calling on TV. In October 2000, Tony began his work at CHUM Television Ottawa with a freelance job of voicing commercial spots. In August 2001, he joined the news team as a reporter in Pembroke, and in October 2003, he moved to join the 'A' News team in Ottawa.
Education:
High Honours Broadcast Journalism / Loyalist College, Belleville
Extracurricular:
Tony has been involved with a number of community groups including lending his emcee talents to the Serenity Renewal for Families Dinner and Auction (which supports families in their quest to overcome addictions) and the Petawawa Trivia Challenge (which supports General Panet High School).
What I Love About My Job:
"My work at 'A' News has allowed me to cover stories from Ground Zero in New York City to Parliament Hill. It's a privilege to be able to share these stories and explain the impact they have on our community. Being a reporter and anchor is a dream come true. Each and every day is different and I get to meet some of the most interesting people that live and work in our region."
