Ken Evraire

Sports Anchor/ Reporter

Sports have always played a role in Ken's life.  Growing up in Ottawa, he was a fan of the Ottawa 67s and Ottawa Rough Riders - and he loved rooting for the underdog.  Ken enjoyed a nine year career in the CFL playing in Ottawa, Hamilton and Saskatchewan, before retiring and shifting to a career in sports broadcasting.  Today, Ken shares his love of sports with youth in our region by volunteering his time with the Boys and Girls Club and the School Breakfast Program.  He is always on the lookout for Ottawa's 'Good Sports' -youth in our region who are making big strides through sports.  In September 2006 Ken was honoured with the United Way's Community Builder Award for his work inspiring and motivating youth in our community to get involved.

Education:

B.A. Communication Studies - Wilfrid Laurier University

Extracurricular Activities:

Ken spends a significant amount of time providing motivational speeches to kids in local schools.
He also has taken up running half marathons and full marathons (Honolulu 04, National Capital Half).

What I love About My Job:

"When you cover sports there is something different each and every day. I once heard the term "core competency". If you surround yourself with good people, good things happen and athletes are good people."
