Hi and thanks for dropping by.
As I write this, I'm enjoying a few cervezas at the Laguna Bar on the lake outside one of the Disney World resorts.
I have 45 minutes to kill before departing for the airport to get on a plane to bring me home to Ottawa.
For the second year in a row, I was lucky enough to be sent on assignment to deliver the weather for "A-News at 6" live from Disney World in Orlando, FLA. (Quick note...the temps and conditions were awesome...27 degrees and mostly sunny). It's rare moments like these that allow one to feel fortunate and blessed.
Admittedly, it was a busy two days working. But c'mon...I'll take being busy at the happiest place on earth over being half as busy at home any day!
Accompanying me this year was 'A' Morning producer Melissa Rose and 'A' Morning co-host Lianne Laing. Yes, it was a quick trip with a heavy schedule with much crammed in, but there were also some moments to relax and enjoy.
Some moments that stand out for me (and I'm writing these moments down NOW in the chance I'll forget them later...)
- covering the brand new attraction "American Idol Experience"...after going through the "Experience", I'm told it's a very accurate representation of reality...right down to the ginormous stage and lights and seating
- getting American Idol finalist Ruben Studdard to say 'hi' to "A-News" live on the air while being interviewed by some big American entertainment show. (I'm sure some producer somewhere in L.A. or N.Y. was cursing us!)
- the after-party where Melissa and I enjoyed the "Aerosmith Rock n Rollercoaster" all to ourselves! We also did the "Tower of Terror" by ourselves. It was as if we owned the rides!!
- meeting other journalists and crews from around North America
- for the second year in a row, meeting Mickey and Minnie! They are so adorable together!
- and this private, quiet moment alone to jot down these notes
It's hometime soon.
Back to snow and below zero temps.
But, also back home to a newsroom full of people I love and enjoy working with.
Back home to friends I miss.
Back home to my own bed.
Getting away is nice, but returning home is nicer.
Enjoy the pics from Walt Disney World '09.
Your pal,
Bill W.

Hi and thanks for clicking your way here!
We completed our first of many weekly "On The Road" broadcasts... 'A' News went live from Jacques-Cartier Park in Gatineau to celebrate "Winterlude" on February 6.
As always, it was a flawless show.
Aside from sliding down the ice-slides about 17 times (my butt is bruised but it was worth it!)...we met many loyal 'A' viewers that wanted to be there. To me, that is my favourite element in being out in the community. You consistently tell us that you love watching our News and that you enjoy our personalities. Thanks!!
We have many more "On The Road" broadcasts planned. It's fun for us to get out of the newsroom and get closer to you.
Some pics will follow this Blog.
Also on this blog, the unaired interview with Jason Mewes...the lovable actor featured in many Kevin Smith films.
Jay was in town recently to deliver a speaking engagement at Carleton University. His trip coincided with the DVD release of his latest flick, the blockbuster comedy "Zack & Miri". I took Jay to enjoy a Beavertail.
Enjoy the clip. (CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE INTERVIEW)
Your pal,
Bill W.
