VICTORIA - The Environment and Infrastructure Public Advisory Committee is tuning into something many of us tune out; environmental noise pollution.
Committee member Marg Gardiner says Victoria can learn a lot from a European research project on the topic.
Q-City or Quiet City Transport focused on urban noise and suggested a number of valuable tools to help reduce noise pollution.
They include changing road surfaces and restricting traffic volume.
The public advisory committee says while by-law enforcement officers investigate individual noise complaints, Victoria doesn't have an overall community noise policy.
The group plans to discuss the matter at its next meeting in March.
Its findings are expected to be forwarded to the Environment and Infrastructure Standing Committee for further review.
