PARKSVILLE - it might be the heat, or it could be just bored teens. The mid-island is seeing a sharp spike in vandalism.
Nanoose Elementary School is the latest target of vandals. Seven windows were found smashed over the weekend.
It joins other schools hit by vandals in a seemingly increasing level of destruction.
In Port Alberni on Friday, 50 thousand dollars worth of damage to A.W. Neill Middle School. Two teens were arrested - police say they were caught red handed smashing the interior of the school.
And the vandalism isn't just at schools. A Parkville car dealership had extensive damage done - when unidentified teens - shown on security video - played hopscotch on the tops of vehicles.
And the Arrowsmith Potters Guild was the target of vandals - guard rails and windows were smashed along with many pottery items close to the windows were broken.
Police have a message for parents of bored teenagers during the summer - know where your kids are.
