Homeless Shelter Funding For Saanich

In a surprise announcement first brought to you by A-Channel News, housing minister Rich Coleman is offering to fund a new homeless shelter in Saanich contingent upon the municipality stepping up to the plate to find space and finding a non-profit agency to run the it. And already, Victoria’s largest shelter, Streetlink, is coming forward to offer assistance in running it. Saanich councilor Vic Derman, though surprised by the announcement, says the issue must be tackled and fellow councilor Bob Gillespe agrees offering to put a motion before council in the next two weeks.
