Four Month Old Baby Dies While in Foster Care
NANAIMO - A Nanaimo family is mourning the death of a four month old baby who died just days after being placed in foster care.

The little girl's parents, Rose Touchie and Ray Dewell, say they have been shut out of the investigation into their daughter's death and they are demanding answers along with the return of their other daughter who remains in foster care.

Social workers took four-month-old Caroline Touchie and her two-year-old sister Cecilia away from their parents earlier this month.

Less than a week later, Caroline was dead and her parents say they still haven't been told exactly what happened.

The family says they've been calling legal aid since the girls were taken from them and they were finally contacted this morning.

NDP MLA Nicholas Simons is the critic for children and family development. He is calling on the province to assist the family with the cost of Caroline’s burial and to examine the wider issue of inadequate support for families and children.
