Victoria Police Experiment With Body-mounted Cameras
VICTORIA - Victoria Police will become the first department in North America to experiment with body-mounted video cameras.

The pilot project is expected to run for two months.

Victoria Police say the tiny camera will record encounters with the public but will not be used for public surveillance.

Constable Brendan Leblanc says a two-year study in the UK produced dramatic results.

"Their study showed a 14% decrease in public complains against police officers and a 30% reduction in officer preparation time for court" says Leblanc.

Six Victoria officers will be testing the new cameras beginning July 1st.
