Stolen Memories (VIDEO)

NANAIMO - James Robertson had his camera stolen from his truck.  On the memory card - memories of the last year and a half spent with his wife - who died just last week.

And tonight he - and the police are asking whoever stole his camera -- to do the right thing.

The camera was stolen some time during the first week of October.  James Robertson isn't quite sure - he had other more pressing matters to think about.  And with his wife Laura so sick, he never found the time to transfer those precious pictures off the memory card.

Laura Ramsay - struggled with health problems associated with diabetes all her life.  At 29 years old - she lost her sight.  But she rose above that and every challenge.

She co-published a book called South Enders - a compilation of stories on Nanaimo's history.

And after being together for 29 years, James and Laura were married 2 years ago.

On October 17th, Laura Ramsay died.  She was just 59 years old.

And on that stolen camera - a year and a half of memories - including the wedding photos.

Police are asking for anyone with any information about the stolen camera or the memory card, to call the non-emergency number at 250-754-2345 or drop off the memory card in an envelope.

The camera stolen - a Panasonic Lumix fz18 8.1.  It was a wedding present - from his wife, but Robertson says the memory card inside is irreplaceable.

A funeral for Laura Ramsay is planned for November 14th.  It's Robertson's hope the memory card will turn up so he can use the photographs during the service.
