Courtenay Campground was Main Flood Zone (VIDEO)

COURTENAY -  Members of the Comox Valley's Emergency Program were surveying the damage caused in Monday's flood in a Courtenay campground today. Volunteers were inspecting campers, motor homes and recreational vehicles being used for housing in the Maple Pool Campground. They are trying to determine which of them owners will be able to return to and which are now uninhabitable.

 

Fifty-six residents were evacuated when the Tsolum River overflowed in the early hours of Monday morning, receiving temporary accommodations in local hotels when the City of Courtenay was declared a disaster zone.

 

The campground's owners are assisting their tenants salvage their belongings which were soaked inside their RV's or spread amongst the property when the flood waters rushed in.
