Back On Evacuation Alert
CEDAR - The Nanaimo River is creeping back up again and some people living along its banks are back on evacuation alert. It was just yesterday the regional district lifted a local state of emergency for the area, but heavy rain and run off from melting snow in the mountains could lead to more flooding soon.

"We're not ordering any evacuations, but we are making an evacuation alert just to let people know the river is rising," Regional District of Nanaimo deputy emergency coordinator Jack Eubank said Thursday. "It's likely going to crest its bank and there will be some localized flooding."

People living along the river and in surrounding neighbourhoods are being asked to check the Regional District website at www.rdn.bc.ca for updates on the situation.
