SAANICH - Steady streams of people rolled up their sleeves at H1N1 flu shot clinics today.

It was the first day that everyone was elegible to get the vaccine, nearly five weeks the mass immunization campaign began.

At a few clinics doors opened to long lines of people, but by mid-day the rush was over.

Last night people wanting to know more about protecting themselves and their loved ones attended a public forum on H1N1. The Lambrick Park Church auditorium was set up for hundreds, but only about 25 people attended, a sign that perhaps the public has overdosed on swine flu information.

700 people turned up at today's clinic at Westshore Town Centre. Nurses say there was just enough vaccine for everyone. 45 minutes before closing there were just 50 doses left.

So far the Vancouver Island Health Authority has administered just under 50,000 doses of the H1N1 vaccine through mass vaccination clinics -- another 92,000 have been distributed through other medical professionals.

VIHA expects a shipment of 41-thousand doses of the H1N1 vaccine on Tuesday to distribute amongst family doctors and public clinics.

VIHA has scheduled four h1n1 flu shot clinics tomorrow. At Esquimalt high school from 9am till 3:30pm.

In Duncan at Island Savings Centre from 10am to 4pm. So far flooding hasn't affected this scheduled clinic.

Other clinics take place in Parksville at Wembley mall and at the health centre in Port Alice.
