Man Approaching Children in Parksville (VIDEO)

PARKSVILLE - Parents in Parksville are on edge after 2 incidents where a man approached children offering them rides in his truck.

Police say, while they don't know the man's intentions, they are warning parents to keep a close eye on their children and warn them about strangers.

Kids going to Parksville elementary,  were sent home with a letter today.  An alert from the Oceanside RCMP.

On Monday, a 12 year old girl says she was followed by a man on the way to school on Corfield Street.

The man hung around the school area, but disappeared before police arrived.

The second incident happened on Tuesday.  A 10 year old girl was walking near the Parksville Community Centre when a man asked her if she needed a ride.

The girl says she was followed all the way down Craig Street to her mother's workplace.

Police are looking for a man with this description:

35 to 50 years old, with long, dark chin length hair, and wearing dark clothing.

His vehicle is described as a small, black truck with a tarp in the back.
