Whenever Bruce talks about an event or organization on the air, he has probably had first hand experience. And promoting organizations and events on Vancouver Island is always an integral part of his nightly weather broadcasts. Bruce also volunteers his time with organizations including: BC SPCA, The Vancouver Island Symphony, The Salvation Army, Tourism Vancouver Island, The Haven Society, Leadership Victoria, and The Canadian Cancer Society . Bruce was the recipient of the Chair's Award of Distinction for 2009 from the United Way of Canada. He is the 2010 recipient of the Toastmaster's Leadership and Communication Award for British Columbia. At the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce Annual Sterling Awards, Bruce Williams was named as that community’s Citizen of the Year.
