Reporter / Anchor
As the Legislative Reporter for /A\ News Vancouver Island, Shachi Kurl is often found chasing down feuding politicians and working hard to take the spin out of important issues. Shachi's spent a decade in broadcast journalism, working all over Canada for CBC News, the Canadian Press and Global television, before making her way to /A\ in 2005.
Shachi has been a recipient of the Jack Webster Foundation's "Seeing the World Through New Eyes" fellowship, on which she travelled throughout Cambodia and Vietnam, shooting, writing and producing a documentary series on international development, and bringing viewers stories from minefields and maternity wards. Shachi loves television's immediacy and intimacy with viewers, along with the challenge of punishing 24-hour news deadlines. In off hours, Shachi donates her time to a number of charitable causes in and around Victoria, writes, travels for fun, and shops - a lot.
