Two of Windsor's biggest arts and cultural institutions are awaiting word on whether the city will approve their financial requests.
Already facing a deficit, The Windsor Symphony Orchestra is asking city council for an additional 150-thousand dollars . The organization is now awaiting council's final decision.
Those in the arts community argue money invested in arts programs fosters a healthy downtown core, "We bring 25-thousand people to the downtown. And for every dollar invested it folds 13 dollars to our economy."
The Art Gallery of Windsor is also hoping for an additional 150 thousand dollars.
However, the budget committee will likely recommend a budget freeze or reduction for both the Art Gallery and Windsor Symphony.
